Happy Small Business Week!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas. We’re celebrating Small Business Week!

Small businesses make up more than 90 per cent of the businesses in Canada - that means our choices, and our voices, control the economy and shape society, and there’s nothing more badass than that!

This year, on our social media channels. we’re celebrating our favorite small businesses and offering free or cheap ways you can support your friends and family who own and operate small businesses. Here are a handful of ways you can support small business this week, or any week of the year:

  • Teach your kids why small business matters,

  • Tag/share your favourite small businesses' social media posts,

  • Write a positive review of your favourite business on yelp, tripadvisor, etc.,

  • Eat at a favourite locally-owned restaurant,

  • Send a thank you note to your favourite business owner,

  • Check out a co-working space and shake hands with small business owners who work there,

  • Take a class or learn a skill from a small business who offers it,

  • Share your favourite business book/podcast/piece of business advice online,

  • Find a business mentor,

  • Learn how to make an elevator pitch effectively - not just for your business, but for one of your favourites you love to talk about, and finally,

  • Attend a small business week event and network!

As a small business, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention some of our incredible partners - without whom we wouldn’t be able to operate at as high of a calbibre as we do.

Partners in Success

Join us in giving a huge round of internet applause to Gavamedia, our client-centred, customer-focused web developer, who helps us put the nuts and bolts of a website together after we’ve designed the look and feel.

And make some noise for our awesome partner Intuitive Media who works hand-in-hand with us daily to meet the needs of our growing client list. Denise, you’re one of our favourite people - and not just because you know exactly how much it costs to run a 30-second radio ad during drivetime.

Supporting Your Business

Each year during Small Business Week we usually offer a contest offering training sessions, tip sheets, and other marketing supports to anyone who wants to enter. This year, we’re changing it up and offering a booklet of the best marketing tips we've got for your small business!

Want your own copy of our Marketing 101 Toolkit? Get in touch and we’ll send you one on the house.

To everyone who is out there making small businesses run, we Penguins applaud you and wish you a Happy Small Business Week!
